Amna – successfully becoming self-employed

Four years ago, at the age of 14, Amna, her mother and she moved spiritually and physically disabled brother to Delhi. At first they lived in a tiny rented room and lived on alms at the dargah. When Amna’s brother died a few months later, this further loss of a loved one Amna and her mother very manageable.

Hope turned to the two women and invited them over the project. Our careers coordinator convinced Amna’s mother, to have her take part in a six-month beauty course that led to Amna’s first job in a hairdressing salon. Although they was now also working as a cook, Hope’s Non- Formal School offers a tailor-made educational program in the morning offer for them so that Amna received an education and at the same time could provide for herself and her mother. Recently Amna expressed this Desire to work freelance. Since they don’t have their own beauty kit Hope gave her such equipment as a gift. Works today she freelanced in a salon, independent and self-confident.
