Education

Education is an investment in the future. It decides whether children and young people discover their own creative potential and have the chance to leave their disadvantaged milieu and become a recognized member of the society.

The education program at Hope Project is intended as a supplement to the formal education system. We aim at children and young people who have no or difficult access to the formal education system with the intention to guide them to obtain formal school degrees.

Creche

Single parents and working mothers are given the opportunity to have babies and toddlers cared for in the crèche from below 1 year to 3 years of age. There are currently 60 children enrolled.

Pre-Primary

Pre-Primary school is a pre-schooling facility where kids are groomed in the age group of 3 to 5 years for entry into formal schools. It engages the children in social skills, exercising social autonomy and confidence building besides basic academics and co-curricular activities. The preschool and kindergarten are attended by over 100 children. At the same time, parents’ meetings are held to create awareness about the importance of school education for the development of their children. We strive to integrate the children into the first grade of the formal school system.

Hope Non-Formal School

Nizamuddin Basti still lacks quality state and private schools. The traditional mindset of the area generally denies young girls to venture out to different parts of the city to pursue a higher education. Besides, there is a high rate of dropouts due to socio-economic reasons. Hope Non-Formal School is therefore one of the prominent education centers in the area to offer first generation learners and out of school or never-been to school adolescents and grownup children an opportunity for holistic education. In this “Hope Non-Formal School” they are prepared to formally complete 10th and 12th class board examinations through “National Institute of Open Schooling”. Thus, for the underprivileged learners the door to a college degree open, especially for the girls. Some students who have followed this path, have completed their bachelor degrees and continue to study or have found a well-paid job in the service sector. A total of about 150 students attends “Hope Non-Formal School” of which, majority girls.
