20-year-old Barkha had dreamed of studying fashion design since she was a little girl. While attending school during the day, she never missed a cutting and tailoring class at Hope’s Vocational Training Center. She was well on her way to achieving her dream when the pandemic brought her life to an abrupt end.
Her father lost his job and the family struggled to survive. Despite everything, Barkha successfully completed her exams and was admitted to Delhi’s Industrial Training Institute (ITI). But her family couldn’t afford the tuition fees, the uniform, or the necessary sewing machine. The next day, Barkha couldn’t hide her tears from her career coordinator at Hope and shared the dilemma. Hope immediately jumped into action and got the money she needed. Barkha has passed her fashion design course with honors and is well on her way to making a name for herself with her designs. She bought a modern sewing machine, supports herself and shares her success with her family.
