From trauma to a happy childhood

Akeejah Begum is the mother of Zahida, her only daughter. She was abandoned by her husband and works as a domestic helper to ensure the family’s survival.

Zahida was four when she went to daycare. She was reserved and showed no interest in other children. When she came, she would simply lie down and talk to herself. The carer saw her emotional development blocked. In conversations with her mother, it emerged that Zahida was traumatized by the domestic violence between her parents. Hope organized psychological support and over time Zahida began to play and talk, initially with the carer. Gradually she showed interest in the group and also gained friends.

In the daycare center, Zahida is now a happy, smiling child and is learning well. She is enjoying her social behavior and is already starting to speak some English words. Zahida is already registered for the state primary school and will be leaving us shortly.

Akeejah looks happy when she picks up Zahida from the daycare. She is very grateful to Hope that we helped her daughter develop this way.
