Health Centre
Hazrat Inayat Khan Health Centre runs a comprehensive health program that includes medical treatment, awareness and outreach activities. It provides medication and nutrition to its needy patients. Every year, more than 10,000 patients receive medical care from a dedicated team of doctors and primary healthcare workers. The doctors and healthcare workers of the centre look after preventive health care and primary health services. Outreach activities are the strength of The Hope Project.
Special attention is given to babies and toddlers and mothers are encouraged to attend regular check-ups with their children. This ensures that malnourished children are identified and treated at an early stage. Affected children receive protein-rich food such as milk and eggs. Further focal points of the work are tuberculosis, cancer, bowel and eye diseases and anemia in adolescent girls.
Some specialists such as a pediatrician, a dentist, an ophthalmologist and a gynecologist regularly come to our project. Cooperation exists with local organizations to carry out vaccinations and other preventive measures.
In addition to acute treatment, Hope’s health centre provides information and aid prevention. With the help of our social workers, the population is sensitized about
health issues such as ante-natal & post-natal care, reproductive health, lifestyle diseases, tuberculosis, cancer, HIV/AIDS, vaccination and other preventive measures. Health talks, camps, Health Melas (fair), awareness programs and door to door visits are conducted. Through this the centre staff succeeded in ensuring that even the topic of contraception is no longer a taboo in the area.
